original: "INDIAN NOTES & MONOGRAPHS"
A circular red seal or emblem. In the center is a profile of a bison facing left. The seal is bordered by two concentric circles containing the text "MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN" around the top and "HEYE FOUNDATION" around the bottom. Two small star ornaments separate the top and bottom text on the left and right sides.
The Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation, was established in New York City in 1916. Its vast collection later became the core of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
