This illustration, titled "Serving a Meal," depicts the interior of a Zuni home. In the center, a woman wearing a dark tunic and a white shawl leans over a large ceramic bowl on the floor. In the background, an individual wearing a headband and a light-colored shirt sits on a low stone ledge. To the left, another person sits on the floor of irregular stone slabs near a small window. The room is constructed from stone blocks. Various pottery bowls and a basket filled with rolls of wafer bread, known as hewi original: "piki", are spread across the floor. The artist, Metcalf, signed the work in 1882.
