Tiger bite sores are wounds sustained when one is bitten or mauled by a tiger. When a tiger hunts a human, it is much like a cat hunting a mouse. The beast possesses toxic saliva and a foul vapororiginal: 惡炁 (è qì). In traditional thought, this refers to a noxious breath or "aura" emitted by the predator to overwhelm the spirit of its prey. which it sprays into the person's face. The victim is immediately stifled, falling into a state of temporary unconsciousness and losing their presence of mind. In this daze, the person may even strip off their own clothingoriginal: 褫其衣 (chǐ qí yī). This describes a folk observation or belief where victims of tiger attacks were seen undressing, interpreted here as a compelled act of submission or "apologizing" to the beast. as a gesture of submission to the tiger; the tiger, however, does not understand this "repentance" and simply devours them.
Therefore, anyone who encounters a tiger must not undress. If one does not remove their clothes, the tiger may not dare to eat them. Even if one is injured, they can certainly be saved, for humans are not the natural food of tigers. Nevertheless, when a person is wounded by a tiger, there will surely be a great loss of blood. The site of the wound will immediately begin to fester and rot, and the pain is unbearable. This is because a tiger's claws and teeth are extremely toxic; once the flesh is damaged, the toxin invades the skin and muscles, and there are none that do not become necrotic. In an emergency, quickly apply lard to the wound. If no lard is available, a thin slice of pork will also suffice.
