Yuan Tiangang (c. 573–635 AD) was a legendary astronomer, mathematician, and diviner of the Tang dynasty. He is a towering figure in Chinese esoteric history, often credited with the authorship of various prophetic and astrological texts.

Five-Star Astrology (Wuxing): A system of horoscopic astrology based on the positions and movements of the five visible planets—Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn—relative to the constellations.

Three Fates (Sanming): An early form of Chinese destiny calculation that predates the modern "Four Pillars" (Bazi) method. It primarily analyzed an individual's fate based on the year, month, and day of their birth.

Imperial Bureau (Taisi): A title referring to high-ranking government officials, specifically those in the Censorate or Astronomical Bureau, emphasizing Yuan Tiangang's historical role as a state-sanctioned advisor.
