Within the ten-day cycles original: 旬 (xún). The 60-year cycle is divided into six 10-day/year "decades" or cycles. of Zi and Wu, Water is absent. In the cycles of Yin and Shen, Gold is not seen. In the cycles of Chen and Xu, all Five Elements are present. Between Zi and Wu, there are two Gold pillars; between Yin and Shen, there are two Wood pillars.
Forward Order of the Ten Heavenly Stems The Ten Heavenly Stems (Tiangan) are ancient Chinese ordinals used to track days and years, deeply tied to the Five Elements.
Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, Gui.
Reverse Order of the Ten Heavenly Stems
Gui, Ren, Xin, Geng, Ji, Wu, Ding, Bing, Yi, Jia.
Combinations of the Ten Heavenly Stems original: 十干合 (shí gān hé). These represent "magnetic" pairings of stems used in traditional astrology to determine harmony or transformation.
Jia combines with Ji.
Yi combines with Geng.
Bing combines with Xin.
Ding combines with Ren.
Wu combines with Gui.
Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, and Ren belong to Yang. These are the odd-numbered stems, associated with active, expansive energy.
Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, and Gui belong to Yin. These are the even-numbered stems, associated with receptive, internal energy.
