original: "Qimin Yaoshu" (齊民要術). This is an ancient agricultural manual written in the 6th century by Jia Sixie. It is one of the most comprehensive early records of Chinese farming, food science, and household management.
The term "Your Subject" (臣, chen) was required for any official addressing the Emperor or working on an imperial project, signifying their loyalty and service.
A "Recommended Candidate" (舉人, juren) was a scholar who had successfully passed the provincial-level civil service examinations, qualifying them for minor official posts like transcribing texts for the imperial library.
