The Miaogao Terrace, or "Terrace of Wondrous Height," is a famous landmark located on Jinshan (Golden Mountain) in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. Its name is a Chinese translation of the Sanskrit Sumeru, the sacred mountain at the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. The site is renowned for its panoramic views of the Yangtze River and its historical association with the Southern Song dynasty heroine Liang Hongyu, who reportedly beat war drums here to rally troops against invaders.
