Jia Si The OCR reads "賈詡" (Jia Xu), but historical context suggests this is a transcription error for Jia Si, as Jia Xu died years prior to this event. and 魏平 (Wei Ping) repeatedly requested to attack, saying: "My Lord, you fear the state of Shu like a tiger! How can you endure being the laughingstock of the world?"
Sima Yi was troubled by their criticism. He eventually sent Zhang He to attack the southern encirclement while he himself led the main force down the central path toward Liang. Liang dispatched Wei Yan and others to meet them in a counter-attack. The Wei soldiers suffered a massive defeat. Yi was forced to retreat and defend his camp. Later, because his provisions were exhausted, Liang withdrew his army. Yi sent Zhang He to pursue them. Upon reaching Mumen Wooden Gate Trail, a narrow pass., they engaged Liang’s forces; Zhang He was struck by an arrow from a crossbow ambush and died.
