Three Realms The "Three Realms" or "Three Powers" (Sancai) represent the traditional Chinese worldview encompassing Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. This encyclopedia aimed to categorize all knowledge within these three spheres.
This work is a comprehensive pictorial encyclopedia compiled by the scholar Wang Qi and his son Wang Siyi during the Ming Dynasty, published during the Wanli era (around 1609). It is a masterpiece of woodblock printing, containing detailed illustrations and descriptions of subjects ranging from astronomy and geography to biology, history, and daily life.
