The Tai Xue was the central government’s highest institute of learning. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, it functioned as both a national university and a site for the ritual veneration of Confucius.
original: Da Cheng Dian. This is the primary hall of the Confucian temple within the academy, named after a title conferred upon Confucius: the "Great Completer" or "Great Perfected Sage."
Divine Storehouse
original: Shen Ku. A building used for the safekeeping of ritual vessels, musical instruments, and ceremonial regalia used during the biannual sacrifices to Confucius.
Divine Kitchen
original: Shen Chu. A specialized kitchen where ritual food offerings—such as grains and meats—were prepared specifically for use in the Great Perfection Hall ceremonies.
