The Winding Reel

The winding reel original: 幡車 fanche is a tool for winding and reeling yarn original: 纒纑 chanlu; this refers to the process of transferring thread or silk from a spindle onto a frame or reel to prepare it for weaving..

It is also called a "turning wheel" original: 撥車 boche. People in the South call it a "turning frame" original: 撥柎 bofu or a "wheel frame" original: 車柎 chefu. Because people throughout both the North and South are accustomed to its use and see it frequently, and because it has already been illustrated in the preceding pages, there is no need to describe it in detail here.
