Flourishing in Winter, its essence belongs to the Water element; its position is fixed in the North, without deception. The Kidney belongs to the Water element and flourishes during the Winter season. It is positioned in the Northern direction of the body's internal compass; this placement is fixed and "without deception," meaning these words are a reliable truth.
The two ears serve as its openings; the Triple Burner is attached here. The ears are the sensory openings of the Kidney. Kidney Qi connects to the ears; therefore, Wang Shuhe A famous physician of the Jin Dynasty (224–311 AD), known for his work on the pulse. regarded the two ears as the path for Kidney Qi, serving as the Kidney's openings.
The Triple Burner Sanjiao is the meridian of the Hand Lesser Yang Hand Shaoyang. It has a name but no physical form; it is a branch of the Source Qi original: "原氣" (Yuan Qi); the fundamental energy one is born with., and it is attached between the two kidneys below.
Its flavor is salty, corresponding to bean leaves and beans. Li Jiegu Also known as Li Dongyuan (1180–1251), a highly influential physician of the Jin-Yuan period. says: The Kidney symbolizes Water and its flavor is salty. "Huo" refers to bean leaves, often called luosu. "Dou" refers to black beans. Externally it responds to the salty flavor; internally it corresponds to the health of the bones.
Essence and Will naturally follow each other. The Kidneys are divided into two parts: the left is the Kidney and the right is the Gate of Life. The Kidney stores the Will original: "志" (Zhi); the drive or mental focus., while the Gate of Life stores Essence original: "精" (Jing); the fundamental substance of life and reproduction.. When Essence is complete, the Will is robust; when the Will is robust, Essence remains complete. These two naturally follow one another.
