The illustration depicts a man whose entire body is covered in small, distinct circular lesions. In traditional practice, such "Fire-Red" eruptions original: "Huochi chuang" (火赤瘡). These are often associated with "Blood Heat" or external "Fire" pathogens that manifest as painful, bright red rashes or pustules across the skin. were identified by their vibrant color and widespread distribution, as shown here from the face down to the feet. This visual guide allowed a physician to quickly differentiate these from the "Purple Mustard" sores described previously, which were smaller and darker in hue.
