original: 四庫全書 (Siku Quanshu). Commissioned by the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty in 1772, this is the largest collection of books in Chinese history, intended to encompass all known knowledge of the era.
original: 子部 (Zibu). This is the third of the four traditional branches of literature. It contains works by non-Confucian philosophers—such as Daoists and Legalists—as well as specialized technical treatises on topics like medicine, astronomy, mathematics, and military strategy.
