Master Mao The author, Mao Yuanyi (1594–1640), often refers to himself as "Master Mao" or "Maozi" in the style of classical philosophers. says: The helmetoriginal: 盔 (kui) is the same as what the ancients called the moumouoriginal: 鍪牟 (moumou). These were ancient bronze or iron head-coverings, often shaped like a cauldron or cap, used as far back as the Warring States period.. There are many different styles of these. Approximately five types are recorded in the Military Classicsoriginal: 武經 (Wujing), specifically referring to the Wujing Zongyao (Essentials of the Military Classics), a Song Dynasty compendium that served as the primary reference for military technology before Mao's time., whereas there are six types in common use today; I have provided further illustrations of these modern versions.
