Helmet and Neck Guardoriginal: 頭鍪頓項 (Tóumóu dùnxiàng). In military terminology, the tóumóu refers to the rigid bowl of the helmet, while the dùnxiàng—literally "bowed neck"—refers to the protective aventail or cloth-and-plate skirt that hangs from the helmet to protect the wearer's neck and shoulders.
This entry features a detailed woodcut illustration of the standard defensive headgear for officers and soldiers. The helmet is depicted with an ornate, patterned crown and a high plume at the crest. The attached neck guard is wide and layered, designed to allow the wearer to move their head freely while maintaining protection against slashing attacks.
