original: 納后合巹圖 (Nà hòu hé jǐn tú). The title refers to the "Hejin" ceremony, the final and most intimate stage of the imperial wedding. The large framed space below is the designated area for illustrating the Emperor and his new Empress sharing wine from two halves of a single gourd, symbolizing their union and the joining of two families into one.
