Fire Dragon Issuing from the Water original: "Huolong Chushui." This is one of the earliest known examples of a two-stage rocket. It used booster rockets to travel across the water's surface before igniting secondary rockets that shot out of the dragon's mouth toward the target.
Dragon King Cannon of the Sea Bed original: "Shuidi Longwang Pao." A primitive naval mine made of a wooden or iron case, weighted to submerge and triggered by a long fuse protected by a goat's intestine.
Naitō Konan? Collection Record? Library? These markings indicate the book was once part of the private library of Naitō Konan (1866–1934), a famous Japanese historian of East Asia.
