Wild Orchid Root original: Ye Lan Gen (野蘭根). While "Lan" often refers to orchids today, in historical texts it frequently designated various fragrant plants or specific medicinal herbs like Bletilla striata.
The illustration accompanying this entry is a traditional woodcut. It depicts three stems emerging from the soil, characterized by their compound leaves. Such illustrations were essential in pre-modern medicine for the correct identification of plants in the field.
