The Small Child’s Skirt original: Xiaoer qun (小兒群) grows in Shi Prefecture a historical region now part of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province. It grows in clusters, reaching a height of about one foot. Its sprouts and leaves emerge in the spring and summer; it does not produce flowers and withers by the winter. Its root has a pungent taste and a cooling nature in traditional Chinese medicine, "cooling" herbs are used to counteract "heat" or inflammation in the body, and it is non-toxic. It is used to treat strangury original: linji (淋疾); a term in traditional medicine for a variety of urinary disorders characterized by painful, frequent, or difficult urination.
