If green vapor original: 青氣 (qīng qì). A color representing the Wood element, often associated with erratic energy or sickness when seen in the sky. appears beside the sun shaped like two birds, the sovereign will be filled with anxiety and a massive army will suddenly arise.

When there is green vapor above and below the sun, the army may be deployed for battle; victory is certain.

If a black rainbow original: 黑虹 (hēi hóng). In traditional Chinese omenology, a black rainbow was a highly ill-omened atmospheric phenomenon, often interpreted as a "shadow" or "dark bridge" signaling death and disruption of the natural order. pierces the sun, a great military rebellion will break out and the ruler of the state will face grave danger. Another interpretation says: a minister is plotting treason, a mobilized army is in the field, and the foreign general 客將 (kè jiàng): Literally "guest general"; an officer from another region or a commander leading an expeditionary force. will perish.

If a black mussel-shaped vapor original: 黑蜆 (hēi xiǎn). Likely referring to a spiral or shell-shaped dark cloud formation. pierces the sun, the Five Grains 五穀 (wǔ gǔ): The five staple crops (usually rice, broomcorn millet, foxtail millet, wheat, and beans) that represent the nation's food security. will not ripen, and all affairs will result in misfortune.

When black vapor shaped like a dragon supports the side of the sun, or appears like a person lying on their back beside the sun, there are rebellious ministers hidden below.

If there is black vapor above and below the sun shaped like a flood dragon original: 蛟龍 (jiāo lóng). A mythical aquatic dragon capable of summoning storms and floods., it governs wind and rain; it also signifies that the enemy is plotting, and you should urgently prepare your defenses.

If the vapor is shaped like a black snake piercing the sun, it governs heavy rains. Another interpretation says it signifies those who intend to rebel.
