The Six Jia 六甲 (Liujia) | Six powerful celestial generals in the Daoist pantheon who govern the cyclical flow of time and protect the practitioner from harm, the Nine Chapters, the Round Heaven, and the Square Earth; the Four Seasons and the Five Elements.
Let the Azure, Vermilion, White, and Yellow Representing the guardians of the four cardinal directions: East, South, West, and Center be my guides. Let Taiyi 太乙 (Taiyi) | The 'Great One,' a primordial deity representing the supreme unity of the cosmos be my teacher, and the Sun and Moon be my light.
I use the Steps of Yu to clear the path, while Chi You A legendary ancient war god, invoked here to repel weapons and violence wards off all weaponry. The Azure Dragon Guardian of the East supports the axle of my carriage, the White Tiger Guardian of the West guards my march, and Yinghuo 熒惑 (Yinghuo) | The planet Mars, known as the 'Glowing Delusion' for its red color and erratic path; here used as a blazing scout to lead the way leads me from the front to expel all that is inauspicious.
The Big Dipper carries out the divine execution of evil, removing all calamities and disasters. The Five Spirits follow me as I travel throughout the eight directions. Those who stand against me shall die; those who harbor malice toward me shall perish. To my left are the Altars of Soil, and to my right are the Altars of Grain original: "Sheji" (社稷); the foundational spirits of the state and land.
With my ceremonial cap on, thieves and bandits shall remain hidden and subdued. The traveler shall have joy; the one who remains shall have blessings. A myriad of spirits protect me, forever removing the threat of thieves and rebels.
Swiftly, swiftly, according to the law and command! If you wish to travel a thousand miles, you should also recite this mantra.
Whenever I wish to undertake the hundred affairs—such as traveling far to meet a person of high rank, or an official heading to a new post—I must exit through the Earth Door and enter through the Heaven Gate Specific auspicious directions calculated using Dunjia divination to avoid spiritual blockages, riding upon the Jade Maiden 玉女 (Yunu) | Divine female attendants who provide celestial transport and protection to the practitioner during ritual travel as I go.
The incantation says:
Heaven Gate, Heaven Gate, today is truly auspicious.
The Jade Maidens attend me on my left and right.
I travel freely through the four directions.
As the sun rises in the Six Jia, I shall encounter no disaster or calamity.
