The Guochao Dianhui (Collection of the Institutions of the Dynasty) is a comprehensive record of the Ming Dynasty’s administrative systems, geography, and regulations.
Hu-guang Province counts fifteen Prefectures original: Fu (府). A high-level administrative division often translated as a prefecture or department.:
1. Wuchang
2. Hanyang
3. Xiangyang
4. Yunyang
5. De'an
6. Huangzhou
7. Jingzhou
8. Yuezhou
9. Changsha
10. Baoqing
11. Hengzhou
12. Changde
13. Chenzhou
14. Yongzhou
15. Chengtian Specifically designated as "Chengtian" because it was the ancestral home of the Jiajing Emperor.
Under these prefectures, there are thirteen Sub-prefectures original: Zhou (州). and ninety-nine Counties original: Xian (縣).. Additionally, there are two Independent Prefectures, namely Jing Prefecture and Chen Prefecture, which administer nine counties.
In total, the province consists of fifteen Prefectures, fifteen Sub-prefectures, and one hundred and eight Counties.
