Newly established in the 3rd year of the Longqing era [1569]; stationed at the Shixia Camp. He is responsible for managing the defensive sectors of Qiangziling, Caojiazhai, Gubeikou A strategic pass of vital importance, often called the "Key to the Northern Gate" of Beijing, and Shitangling.
Formerly held the rank of Commandant Shoubei original: Shoubei 守備; a local garrison commander. In the 31st year of the Jiajing era [1552], this post was abolished and replaced with a Vice Regional Commander. Later, that post was also abolished and reorganized into an Assistant Regional Commander Canjiang original: Canjiang 參將. He oversees the Commandant of Zhangjiawan Zhangjiawan was a crucial logistics hub where the Grand Canal met the route to Beijing.
Formerly held the rank of Commandant. In the 28th year of the Jiajing era [1549], a Mobile Corps Commander Youji original: Youji 遊擊; a commander of mobile "strike" forces rather than fixed garrison troops was established here. In the 3rd year of the Longqing era [1569], that post was abolished and reorganized as an Assistant Regional Commander stationed at this pass Shanhaiguan is the famous "First Pass Under Heaven" where the Great Wall meets the Bohai Sea.
Formerly a Mobile Corps Commander; reorganized into its current rank in the 36th year of the Jiajing era [1557]. This officer is ordered to share defensive duties with the Assistant Regional Commander of Yanhe Camp. His jurisdiction includes the three administrative areas of Huangtuling, Damaoshan, and Yiyuankou, overseen by three Dispatching Commissioners Tidiao original: Tidiao 提調; junior administrative officers responsible for coordinating local logistics or troop movements.
