Local Green Wood Fragrance original: Tǔ Qīngmùxiāng. This is the root of the Aristolochia debilis plant, a species of birthwort. The name literally means "Local Green Wood Fragrance" to distinguish it from imported varieties of incense wood. is found among the hillsides of Changsha. It is a climbing vine with slender stems. Its leaves and fruit are both identical to those of the "Horse Bell" plant original: Mǎdòulíng, another name for Aristolochia species, named for the shape of the seed pods. The roots are yellow, thin, and also possess a fragrant aroma.

The color is a very deep, rich purple-black, revealing yellow stamens within. This is distinctly different from the flowers of the [standard] Horse Bell plant, which resemble the flowers of the Goji berry original: Gǒuqǐ.
