The Cool-Cap Tassel original: 涼帽纓, Liángmàoyīng; named for the root's resemblance to the decorative fringes on a traditional summer hat grows in Nan'an A historical prefecture in modern-day Jiangxi Province. It has slender stems and a vining growth habit. The leaves are roughly the size of a thumb, oblong and rounded with a sharp point, and are a light ochre color. Its roots are loose and fluffy, resembling the tassels original: 纓, yīng on a hat, which is how it earned its name. Folk doctors 俚醫 (lǐyī): rural or local healers whose knowledge often came from oral tradition rather than formal texts use it to treat sore throats also written as "throat illnesses" and to dissipate swellings and toxins 消腫毒 (xiāo zhǒngdú): a therapeutic method to reduce inflammation, abscesses, or "toxic" sores. Its properties are described as balanced and warm in nature.
