The Ottoman Empire original: 都魯機國 (Dūlǔjī Guó); a phonetic transliteration of "Turkey" consists of various provinces original: 部落 (bùluò); while literally meaning "tribes," Wei Yuan uses this term to denote administrative regions or states situated within Europe. The Black Sea connects to the Great Ocean; its borders to the east, west, south, and north are shared with Russia and Austria. To the northwest, it governs ten major provinces, forty-six minor provinces, two hundred and forty-eight administrative centers, and thirty-four islands of various sizes.
Rumelia original: 羅彌里 (Luómílǐ); derived from "Rumeli," the Ottoman name for their Balkan territories, meaning "Land of the Romans", is bordered by the sea to the east, various prefectures and territories to the south, Albania original: 阿爾麻尼 (Āěrmǎní) to the west, and Serbia original: 沙威阿 (Shāwēiā) and Bosnia original: 摩士尼 (Móshìní) to the north. It governs eight major districts and seventy-five minor districts.
Moldavia original: 摩爾達威 (Móěrdáwēi); a historical principality now split between modern Romania and Moldova, is bordered by the Black Sea to the east, Austria original: 奧地里加 (Àodìlǐjiā) to the west, and Wallachia to the south. Its capital is located at Iași original: 麻爾牙里 (Máěryálǐ); the historical capital of the Moldavian principality, and it is bordered by Russia to the northeast. It governs four major districts and thirty-two minor districts.
Wallachia original: 准臘 (Zhǔnlà); a historical principality in modern-day Romania, then under Ottoman suzerainty, is bordered to the southeast by the Danube River original: 那爾河 (Nàěrhé); likely a phonetic rendering of the "Danubius" or "Năruja" depending on the map source and the territory of Iași. Its western border is Serbia, its northern border is Moldavia, and its northwestern border is Austria. It governs three major districts and twenty-seven minor districts.
