The five countries in this volume are all located in the northern part of the continent. Because they are close to the Frozen Sea original: 冰海 (Binghai), referring to the Arctic Ocean, they are separately categorized as the "Northern Oceans."
The Kingdom of Prussia original: 普魯社 (Pulushe) is also written as Beilusi, Polusi, or Pulu. In various records and maps, it appears as Ya’ermiya likely a transliteration of "Almania" or Germany or Tuliya likely "Thuringia"; these are simply different phonetic transliterations. In foreign accounts, it is also called the Kingdom of Kongge’er possibly a phonetic rendering of "Kingdom" or Maxigabi.
The Kingdom of Prussia is the "Single Eagle" nation original: 單鷹 (Danying) that comes to Guangdong to trade. Prussia was identified by the black eagle on its national ensign, distinguishing it from the "Double Eagle" of the Austrian or Russian empires. It is located in the northern part of central Europe.
Its territory was formerly small, with various tribes scattered like stars. In the year 1800 of the Christian Era the 5th year of the Jiaqing reign, King Frederick original: 富律達利 (Fulu’idali) seized the region of Silesia original: 西里西阿 (Xilixi’a) from Austria original: 歐塞特厘 (Ousaiteli), along with portions of Poland.
