The military is divided into three classes:
1. The Standing Army original: 士丹定阿彌 (Shidanding’ami), a phonetic rendering of "Standing Army"
2. The Landwehr original: 蘭威阿 (Lanwei’a), the national militia or secondary force
3. The Landsturm original: 蘭士端 (Lanshiduan), the final reserve or local defense force
