When the various colonies grew resentful and rebelled to establish their independence, Massachusetts also joined them with one heart in turning against Britain and aligning with America original: "彌利堅" (Mǐ-lì-jiān). They established a Governor original: "總領" (zǒnglǐng) and a Deputy Governor original: "副總" (fùzǒng).
