The Shandong Regional Military Commission subordinate to the Left Chief Military Commission consists of three Regional Commanders (one Seal-holder and two Executive Secretaries). It oversees 17 Guards including 10 guarding the Sub-prefectures and 12 Independent Battalions. Aside from the two shifts assigned to training in the capital, the military force consists of over 63,800 horse and foot soldiers. There are also three Ceremonial Guard Units.
