It is not that the Tathagata's whole body can be destroyed?, but because sentient beings
three [causes] cause it to manifest or be hidden. Furthermore, Vajrapani,
in the future, when the Degenerate Age original: mofa (末法). The final of the three ages of Buddhism, when the teachings are misunderstood and difficult to practice. oppresses [the world], those who receive
rebirth will practice habits that are not [virtuous],
and they will not seek the Buddha’s teachings.
For what reason is it like this?
This pagoda is sustained by the divine power of all Tathagatas original: Rulai (如來). A title for a Buddha, meaning "One who has thus come.".
For this reason, I now declare?..."
At that time, Vajrapani [listened as]
the various Tathagatas also [offered] these flowers.
And then Vajrapani
spoke, saying: "World-Honored One, if there is one who
places [this sutra] inside the pagoda, how much merit will they receive?"
The Buddha told Vajrapani: "If there is...
Vajrapani, if there is a person who scribes this [sutra]
and places it within the pagoda, this person who scribes [it]
[will be] where all the Tathagatas [dwell].
Also, the one who maintains this sutra, they shall be [guarded by] ninety-six
thousand kotis original: judi (俱胝). An ancient Indian number, roughly ten million. [of Buddhas], as numerous as sesame seeds, as if they were present.
They will also be protected by the power? of all Tathagatas.
[By] placing [this sutra] and by all
protected by many powers. If one
places this sutra, that which they
should receive [is merit across] the Three Realms The realms of desire, form, and formlessness that constitute the world of rebirth..
Equivalent to giving to the [Great] Vehicle, this teaching and its merit
are based on the truth of the [Buddha's] empowerment.
Upon the canopy of this pagoda...
otherwise...
greatly [progressing] and never falling back, even until...
Those in hell, if they perform one prostration or [offer]
one look at this pagoda, they will quickly and certainly obtain liberation.
If a person reaches the place of the pagoda,
their companions
will not be [harmed] by cold winds, thunder, or lightning.
They will not be [harmed] by venomous snakes or poison.
They will not be [harmed] by tigers.
They shall even [be protected by] dragons.
They will not be harmed by various evils,
nor will there be various [suffering].
If they fear long-standing, chronic illnesses, they will not [suffer them].
The nine types of diseases
will all [be prevented] from attaching to the body.
Plague among cattle, [illnesses of] young boys and girls, abdominal masses original: xia (瘕). A traditional term for internal obstructions or tumors.,
