What some have wanted, that Philomela is called metidos oiktran original: "μήτιδος οἰκτράν", is twisted and perverse.

Since this distinguishes the nightingale from Philomela, which is inept, and kirkelatoi original: "κιρκηλάτοι" cannot be written, as I warned in Opusc. III. p. 216, I wrote kirkelatas aedonos original: "κιρκηλάτας ἀηδόνος". Thus v. 131 admetas admeta original: "ἀδμήτας ἀδμήτα". Lobeck disputed most learnedly and accurately about this class in Paralipomena diss. VII, whose §. 2. p. 458 dwells on this form. And what is in the codices as aedunes original: "ἀηδύνης" or aedones original: "ἀηδονῆς" seems to have arisen from es original: "ης" written after kirkelatou original: "κιρκηλάτου".

Nor is eirgomena original: "εἰργομένα" correctly said of one who flees the hawk. The codices' script ergomena original: "ἐργομένα" shows egromena original: "ἐγρομένα", which the scholiast interpreted as diokomene original: "διωκομένη". Meursius in De regibus Atheniensium II. c. 4. 5., who mentioned the witnesses of the myth, neglected this passage and Eustathius p. 1875, 3, to which add Eudocia p. 376 and Stephanus Thes. under the word aedoneios original: "ἀηδόνειος".
