The scholiast mentions the reading zosato hois me tima I girded myself with those things by which he honors me. tima is the vulgate [text] since Victor. He says, I adorn myself while alive with funeral laments. Aeschylus had that Homeric passage in mind: "They who, while he was still alive, lamented Hector in his house," Iliad VI. 500. Wordsworth also warned of this, adding Agamemnon 1281: "To speak a speech once more, I do not want a lament of my own."

In singing the Glyconic verse, bounin, pollaki d' empitno, the chorus interrupts itself with the recitation of an anapaestic verse, karban' audan, o ga, konneis (for thus I corrected these), as the chorus of Ion of Euripides [does] in the first song. On the other hand, in Aristophanes' Frogs, Bacchus inserts these [lines] while reciting the trimeter in verse 665: "He who rules over the promontories of the Aegean or the gray [sea]." Lobeck spoke about the varying accent on karbana in Paralipomena, pp. 137, 190. Grammarians instruct that the last [syllable] is to be accented, as Arcadius, pp. 8, 10.
