A black and white photograph shows a marble portrait bust of the Greek poet Homer. The bust appears in profile, facing left, against a dark, solid background. It depicts an elderly man with a thick, curly beard and hair. He has a prominent brow and sightless eyes, which are hallmarks of the traditional way artists portrayed the blind poet in antiquity. The bust is mounted on a simple white pedestal.
The National Archaeological Museum in Naples holds one of the world's most significant collections of Greco-Roman artifacts.
