To select the divine books of ORIGEN according to fate,
Which, if you wish, you will see here, as the mind of Wisdom Sophia intends.
What great work will a later man finish?
Therefore, the noble man of the ROYAL Muses,
From the well-built city, will love and admire
WETSTEIN, being such a man, and his lovely chorus.

That Father Origen once sent into the light many writings,
With unexhausted labor, chalk-hearted industrious/enduring in his work:
If the illustrious HUET had not recently been pleased
To lead them to our time of study with his aid,
Perhaps many things would still lie unknown to us,
And be hidden under a treacherous cloud.
But now WETSTEIN, for whom from the very beginning
The care and labor of the great ORIGEN were a stimulus,
Brings a prominent part into the rays of divine light:
Things which were seen by few before:
And he illuminates, translates, and at the same time purges the work:
Whence famous praise and honor remain for him.
Be strengthened with new virtue: may God continue to favor
The arduous undertakings of this distinguished man for us,
And may He reward him with the hoped-for honor he deserves:
Thus, glory will be a spur to him for greater things.
