the king of Israel called one eunuch and said, "Bring Micaiah the son of Imlah quickly." And Ahab and Jehoshaphat, the kings, were sitting on their thrones, armed at the gates of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them. And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself iron horns and said, "Thus says the Lord: With these you shall gore Syria until it is finished." And all the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, "Go up to Ramoth-Gilead and you shall prosper, and the Lord will give it into the hand of the king of Syria."

And the angel who went to call the prophet Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "Behold, all the prophets with one mouth speak good things concerning the king; be you also, then, in your words like the words of one of these, and speak good." And Micaiah said, "The Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak." And Micaiah came to the king. And the king said to him, "Micaiah, if I go up to Ramoth-Gilead to war, or shall I refrain?" And he said, "Go up, and the Lord will prosper it into the hands of the king." And the king said to him, "How many times do I adjure you that you speak truth to me in the name of the Lord?" And Micaiah said, "Not so; I have seen all Israel scattered on the mountains as a flock that has no shepherd. And the Lord said, 'The Lord is not with these as God; let each return to his house in peace.'" And Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not say to you, 'He does not prophesy good for me, but only evil'?" And Micaiah said, "Not so, not I; hear the word of the Lord. Not so; I saw the Lord God of Israel sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven stood about Him on His right and on His left.
