Words beginning from the syllable $\bar{ι}$, having [gloss: $λ, π$] the following syllable beginning from a vowel—namely of $\bar{α}$, $\bar{ε}$, $\bar{η}$, omicron, large $\bar{ω}$, and the diphthong $ou$—for the most part have the antepenult through $\bar{ι}$. With $\bar{α}$, for example:
ia Iakobos; Iabos; iatros [physician]; Iapytatē; and Iapytaia of the Byzantines; and instead of the $φ$ os; ialemos, the lament; Iapyx, the one who carves and the slanderer; Iason; Iamblichos os; Iannes; then iambic poets as proper names; iachē, the cry; iambos; iallō, "I send."
ie With $\bar{ε}$, for example: Ieremias; hiereus [priest]; Ierousalēm; Iessai; Hierichō; and Hierichō the city; the one from it, Hierichountios; Izabel; Israēl lm; hierōtatō, "I sacrifice"; hieron, the victim.
iē With $\bar{η}$, for example: Iēsous; Iēkōs the poet; iēïos, an epithet of Apollo.
