V. First, because it is the primary (part) of the body; for the rest became as a foundation, but this was established above as an image. Furthermore, it is the fountain of the sensitive form, and the sense (total) is in the face. Second, man is made a participant not only of the soul, but also of the rational soul: and the head is the temple of the mind, as some have said.

VI. Paradise, taken literally, has no need of an expressive solution; for it is a dense place full of all kinds of trees. Symbolically, however, it is wisdom, Divine and human intelligence, and (the intelligence) of these causes. For it was fitting after the creation of the world to constitute a contemplative life, so that through the vision of the world, and of those things which are in it, one might arrive also at the praise of the Father. Since it was not possible to see nature itself, nor to praise the creator of all things without wisdom: whose ideas He planted like trees in the principal leader (mind) of the rational soul...
