Conspectus of sigla.

Latin numbers indicate volumes, and Arabic numbers indicate pages and lines of the critical edition. In the index of Old Testament locations, I have indicated the beginning of the passage cited or interpreted by Philo with the line numbers.

• By placing an asterisk at the beginning of the index of names and the index of Old Testament locations, I have indicated those passages which Philo transcribed word-for-word from the books of his sources and from Holy Scripture.

( ) I have enclosed in round brackets:

1. those words which are not read in the same form in the author’s own words or which have been added by me for the sake of explanation.
2. everything—both numbers and words—which does not pertain to the critical edition of Philo’s works.

[ ] I have enclosed in square brackets in the index of names those passages pertaining to a certain author, which Philo either cites or touches upon while suppressing the author's name.

x I have placed this sign in the index of words beneath those words for which I have not listed all the locations in the index where they are found, but only those in which a certain sentiment regarding philosophy or theology is assigned to the word.

All.: interpretatio allegorica allegorical interpretation.
cit.: citatur is cited, i.e., the sayings of some author are brought forward by Philo.
int.: intellegitur is understood or is to be understood.
n.: notatum est the word is noted in the critical apparatus.
