If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

I strive to guard the gifts you have given me. If indeed I have called upon you (O sacred Wisdom) and inclined my heart to understanding—as the acquisition of such understanding is more valuable than rubies—and if I extol you with due praise (since you are accustomed to lifting up those who trust in you and making them friends of God); if because I venerate, follow, and embrace that True Magic Fludd defines "True Magic" not as sorcery, but as the study of the divine laws of nature and the hidden workings of God in the world. of which you (O blessed rock) are the firm base and foundation; if (I say) because I long for your divine laws and desire the living waters from your rock—should I therefore be pursued by such great malice of the wicked, and by their injuries and curses? Therefore, be my help (O powerful virtue), be to me a rock or a firm crag and a bulwark. I implore you to make me confident and courageous so that I may vigorously and bravely lead this cause of mine—seeing as it is also yours—and so that I may deservedly hurl back the marks of blasphemy upon the head of the blasphemer himself. For he, having despised your majesty and neglected that power which is stronger than all forces, seems to attribute the entire capacity of True Magic to the devil, making no exception. He acts as if you, decreasing in your ancient strength and languishing more and more in power through every age, no longer know how to perform deeds much greater than the devil even today through the mediation of your creatures, whether they be the Angels or others living in heaven and on earth. For to you alone, and not to the devil, belongs the science of True Magic, since you alone are the worker of all wonders. Therefore, O most holy Wisdom, let yours be the victory and triumph over Folly original: "Moriam." This is a personification of Folly, likely a stinging reference to his opponent's lack of divine insight., that sorceress; to you be perpetual praise, honor, and glory. Amen.
original: "Ego Homo." This was Robert Fludd's preferred way of identifying himself as a humble representative of humanity before the Divine.
