An ornate armorial bookplate, or ex-libris, is pasted onto the page. The heraldic design features a quartered shield at its center, topped by an earl's coronet. Above the coronet are two helmets with voluminous acanthus leaf decorations known as mantling. The left helmet bears a crest of a winged griffin, and the right bears a stag's head. The shield is held up by two unicorns acting as supporters. Below the shield, a ribbon scroll carries a motto, and a larger decorative scroll at the base contains the owner's name and titles.
