A rectangular white paper insert is pasted onto the center of the page. It features a circular emblem. In the center of the emblem is an oval containing a white pelican in its nest, feeding its young with its own blood. This motif, known as the pelican in her piety, is a common alchemical symbol for the process of extraction and the sacrifice of the self for a higher work. The scene is set against a blue background. Above the pelican, golden rays shine down from the top of the oval. Below the pelican is a shield bearing four red roses, which often suggests a connection to Rosicrucian thought. Surrounding the oval is a circular border with the inscription: Hermetic Philosophy original: "PHILOSOPHIA HERMETICA".
