PIETER LANGENDIJK AND CLAAS BRUIN. Jan Luiken (1649–1712) was a renowned illustrator and poet; here, his visual works are accompanied by poetry written by the popular authors Langendijk and Bruin.

An engraved vignette featuring a central cartouche that contains a landscape with a figure by a body of water. Above the cartouche is a banner with the motto "WHILE WE CATCH, WE ARE CAUGHT" original: "DUM CAPIMUS CAPIMUR". The frame is flanked by two putti cherub-like winged children common in Baroque art: the one on the left stands and holds a large fishing net, while the one on the right sits and holds a fishing rod. The base of the design is decorated with scrollwork and nets. Below the engraving is the artist's signature: "J. Wandelaar designed and made this."
