...his hands and said: "O Jehovah, God of Israel, there is no God like You, in heaven or on earth."
It is plain that Solomon intended for this prayer to be directed to the one true God—to that infinite Being whose presence is universal original: "universal"; present everywhere at once.—even though, in a meaningful sense, He was also specifically original: "peculiarly" present in His Temple. It is to this Presence that Solomon immediately directs his prayer.
Verses 18, 19, 20, 21.
But will God indeed original: "in very deed" dwell with men on earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven original: "heaven of heavens" cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built! Therefore, have regard for the prayer of Your servant and for his plea, O Jehovah my God. Listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant prays before You, so that Your eyes may be open toward this house day and night—toward the place where You said You would put Your name—to listen to the prayer which Your servant prays toward this place. Listen, therefore, to the pleas of Your servant and of Your people Israel, which they shall make toward this place. Hear from Your dwelling place, even from heaven; and when You hear, forgive.
The attributes original: "characters" given here to the Person to whom Solomon addresses his prayer belong properly to the one true God, whose dwelling place is in the heavens, though at the same time He is pleased to dwell with
