Montfaucon de Villars Henri de Montfaucon de Villars (1635–1673) was a French cleric and author, most famous for his 1670 satirical novel Le Comte de Gabalis (The Count of Gabalis), which mocked the secret teachings of the Rosicrucians and the belief in elemental spirits.
