CONJUGIAL LOVE

Conjugial: A term derived from the Latin "conjugialis," used by Swedenborg to describe a spiritual and eternal marriage union, as distinguished from "conjugal," which often refers to more worldly or physical marriage.

PRELIMINARY RELATIONS CONCERNING THE JOYS OF HEAVEN AND NUPTIALS THERE.

2. At one time, an angel appeared to me flying beneath the eastern heaven, with a trumpet in his hand. He held it to his mouth and sounded it toward the north, the west, and the south. He was clothed in a robe that waved behind him as he flew along, and was wrapped around the waist with a belt that shone like fire and sparkled with carbuncles original: "carbuncles"; a term used in the 18th century for deep red gemstones, usually garnets. and sapphires. He flew with his face downward and landed gently on the ground near where I was standing.
