A full-page calligraphic composition in the Square Kufic style, also known as Banna'i. The design consists of a large square grid where Arabic religious phrases are rendered into a geometric pattern of black and white cells. The composition features an outer border of text and four distinct inner squares. Each inner square contains a sacred formula.
This calligraphy is a highly stylized form of Arabic script where letters are adapted to fit a square grid. The content includes the Islamic profession of faith, known as the Shahada. It also includes the names of the Ahl al-Bayt, the family of the Prophet, which indicates a Shia context. Other sections feature phrases of glorification, known as Tasbih.
