I hardly need to offer any observations on these tales, as they have been discussed in the preceding pages.

Due to an error by the late Mr. Reinaud Joseph Toussaint Reinaud (1795–1867), a prominent French orientalist (for which see page 39 of the History of Aladdin original: "Histoire d' 'Alâ al-Dîn" by Mr. H. Zotenberg, Paris, National Printing Office original: "Imprimerie Nationale", 1888), the manuscript titled Arabic Supplement, No. 1716 original: "Supplément Arabe", written in the hand of Dom Chavis, has been confused with No. 1723. This latter manuscript was not written by the Syrian priest, but it contains the original Arabic texts of the "Cazotte Continuation," as noted by Mr. Caussin de Perceval (The Thousand and One Nights, etc., volume 8, Preface, page 17, and following original: "et seqq."). It is labeled "Stories mostly taken from the Thousand and One Nights | Arabic Supplement | Volume of 742 pages" original: "Histoires tirées la plupart des Mille et une Nuits | Supplément Arabe | Volume de 742 pages". This thick quarto volume measures 20.5 centimeters long by 16 centimeters wide. The binding appears to be Italian and the paper is European, but the watermark original: "filegrane"—which appears in three varieties: a coronet, a diamond-shaped cluster of circles, and an unidentifiable design—may be Venetian or French. It contains 765 pages, numbered in the European style, though the last eleven leaves are blank, reducing the written total to 742. The concluding note, which includes the date, is found on the last leaf. Each page contains 15 lines, and each leaf has its catchword original: "mot de rappel"; a word at the bottom of a page that previews the first word of the next to ensure the pages are in the correct order. It is not organized by "gatherings" original: "karrás"; the Arabic term for a quire or gathering of leaves in a manuscript or
