valor, and very prudent judgment, which along with other infinite virtues reigns in your royal and heroic courage, had (as the only one worthy in the world) above so many other competitor Kings and Princes of that crown, with inenarrable applause and triumphant rejoicing of your Palatines, and of all your peoples, elected and almost by force led to be crowned their King. All of which favors of your liberal spirit, which will eternally be, and are more than ever, imprinted in my memory; as they have inviolably obligated me to Your Most Christian Majesty with living love and perpetual faith, so they have filled me with a profound desire to discover for you in part, by effects, the best I can, the intimate gratitude of my spirit. So much so that, almost not remembering how much I owe you, I have taken the boldness to present to you, such as they are, these my small labors, from which you may draw very great light and service on all your occasions. I assure myself well that Your Majesty, by the same conformity that you hold with the supreme Monarch of heaven, will be satisfied (as I most humbly beseech you) with my most devoted and most sincere will, and that with the accustomed benignity of your royal spirit, you will have them also as willingly agreeable as I willingly consecrate and give them to you. Meanwhile, with a most ardent affection, I wish you a happy and long life by the Lord God, whom I also pray together that He may render Your Most Christian Majesty no less formidable and terrifying to enemies than gracious and amiable always to all your friends and faithful servants.
